The ideal time to visit Skardu is between April and October:
Spring (Apr–May): Cherry blossoms and lush valleys
Summer (Jun–Aug): Pleasant weather and open mountain roads
Autumn (Sep–Oct): Golden foliage and clear skies
In winter, the region is beautiful but very cold (often below 0°C). Note that Deosai Plains remain inaccessible due to snow during this time.

You can reach Skardu by air or by road from Islamabad:
By Air: Direct daily flights from Islamabad to Skardu (subject to weather).
By Road: A 15–17 hour scenic drive via two routes:
Karakoram Highway (KKH): Open year-round via Besham and Dasu.
Naran–Babusar Top Road: Seasonal route, open from mid-June to October. We recommend flying to Skardu for comfort and time efficiency.

Yes, all major Pakistani cities such as Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi have strong 4G coverage (Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone). In the northern areas, coverage may be limited on the road or in remote valleys. However, in main towns like Hunza and Skardu, 4G usually works via SCOM, the regional network provider.

While travel insurance is not mandatory, it is highly recommended especially if you plan to visit mountainous regions or engage in adventure activities. We advise purchasing an international travel and health insurance plan that covers medical emergencies, flight delays, and adventure travel.
